ALONE WITH HIS THOUGHTS

Desert-Landscape

He walked alone.
Through the wild winds, on a road filled with sand and stone.
He walked a path with danger abound.

Unfazed by the blazing sun.
One step he placed after another, his face wan.
Blisters embracing his bare feet as if for fun.

In his head, his thoughts raced.
Yet on not one was precedence based.
The birds stopped chirping as if amazed.

For days it seemed, he walked.
Before his time had clocked.
He will walk to his end his peers joked.

Success, he’d been told, must be prepared for.
He knew that when he got to the door.
But within him, he felt doubt rise and then soar.

Until he is ready to face the crowd, he must walk.
And learn to put no importance to talk.
No time now left to sulk.

It was as if the days of old.
When man’s purpose had been to fight the cold.
He knew their expectations would not fold.

For his thoughts must be tamed, he knew.
The harshest critic had got him before he even heard his view.
Before it begun, it had been through.

Without aim, he walked the plain road.
His body weakened as nature gave him no nod.
His mind wishing it had been strong enough to hold back the horde.

He walked alone.
Through the wild winds, on a road filled with sand and stone.
He walked a path with danger abound.
